ABRSM Music Exams

The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) are the world’s leading specialists in music assessment, and have “providedĀ music teachers and their students with exams and assessments that nurture and evaluate an individual’s performance and progress” since 1889.

Internationally recognised as a consistent and rigorous series of examinations they aim “to motivate students of all levels and ages, giving them a series of realistic goals and tangible rewards for their achievements” and cover all levels of skill from beginner upwards.

Jackie Chase is the Honorary Local Representative in Brighton, and is available to answer any queries you may have, whether you are a parent, a student, a teacher or simply interested in having some more information. She can answer all local level questions, andĀ  put you in touch with the correct contact at the ABRSM for more specialised or national level enquiries.

There are three periods of ABRSM exams each year, in Spring, Summer and Winter (exact dates can be found on the website here) and are currently held mainly at Under the Bridge Studios, with experienced ABRSM examiners. The exam facilities include a comfortable waiting room with refreshments, lots of ABRSM literature to browse through and some books and toys for little ones.There are three warm up rooms with pianos and the examination room itself which is light warm and welcoming for young people. There are two free parking places outside and station and car park very close by.
